What is recycled polypropylene and why do we use it at Resol?

At Resol, we believe that design should not only inspire those who experience it, but also respect the environment that makes it possible. That’s why when we talk about sustainable furniture, we’re not just talking about aesthetics or functionality — we’re talking about commitment. A real commitment to the planet, to the processes and to the materials we choose to shape our chairs, tables and all the outdoor furniture we create.

What is recycled polypropylene?

Among these materials, recycled polypropylene has become a key part of our production process. But what exactly is it? It’s a plastic material that, after completing its useful life (as packaging, products or even industrial waste), is recovered, cleaned, transformed and thus reborn.

The process encompasses two major types of recycling: on the one hand, post-industrial recycled plastic, which reuses the surplus from the industrial process itself, taking advantage of offcuts and manufacturing leftovers, defective or out-of-specification parts. On the other hand, post-consumer recycled plastic, which rescues materials that have already been used by consumers and were destined to become waste. In both cases, the result is furniture that maintains the same strength, quality and durability as always, but with an infinitely smaller ecological footprint. .

Toledo Aire: design with a positive impact

Our Toledo Aire collection is a declaration of intent and a natural evolution of our way of understanding design. In it, some of our most iconic models are reinterpreted using only 100% recycled polypropylene. A gesture with which we say goodbye to new plastic, without renouncing innovation.

From a more technical perspective, plastics recycling has become a strategic pillar for the transition to a circular economy in Europe. Boosting the use of recycled materials is a regulatory and industrial priority: reaching the European target of 24% recycled plastics in production by 2030 requires decisive action. At Resol, we actively contribute to this goal by strengthening the 100% recycled polypropylene market, demonstrating that it is possible to offer high quality outdoor furniture with materials that have already had a first life.

Every piece made with recycled polypropylene at Resol tells a story of transformation, awareness, and respect for the environment.
